What kind of items can be obtained via the interlibrary loans service?
If the material doesn’t belong to the collections of any PIKI libraries you can request it as an interlibrary loan. You can request books, sound recordings, movies, sheet music and microfilms as interlibrary loans. Volumes of periodicals are usually not sent as interlibrary loans. Instead, photocopies of articles from the periodicals can be requested.
How are requests made?
The loan request can be made at the library, by calling or by email.
How much does it cost?
The charge for an interlibrary loan order is 5e/order in addition the item borrowed is subject to the charges of the lending library. Interlibrary loans from the Multilingual Library in Helsinki are free of charge. You can ask a specific price at the library.
By submitting the interlibrary loan request, the customer agrees to pay any costs resulting from the loan. By placing an interlibrary loan request you agree to pay the interlibrary loan fee.
How soon can the requested item be available?
It usually takes approximately a week for the item to arrive, however it may take up to a few months for very popular items.
How to renew an interlibrary loan?
So far it is not possible to see your interlibrary loans in Your record at PIKI online library and you cannot renew them as self-service. Please request for the renewals by email or phone. Overdue charges are 0,30 e/day/item. Maximum fee for item is 5e.
